2025/2026 - Beech and Pine
Autumn Term 1, Week 6 - W/c 06.10.25
In Maths, we have been making values with money, understanding why we write ‘p’ after amounts.
In Art, we took inspiration from Emma Majury to create a collage of Big Ben and then a larger scale collage of landmarks from around the UK.
In RE, we explored the role of a rabbi through role play.
In PE, we played team building games which required communication, listening and problem solving.
Year 2 - 10.10.25
Autumn Term 1, Week 5 - W/c 29.09.25
In science this week, the children have enjoyed making food chains and discussing what producers, consumers and predators are. They have also created their own habitats using various materials and added the animals which are suited to those habitats, explaining why.
They carefully observed our school pond to explain why it is a suitable habitat for frogs to survive. What great scientists!
Year 2 - 03.10.25
Autumn Term 1, Week 4 - W/c 22.09.25
In maths this week, we explored equality and inequality, really understanding what the =, < and > symbols mean.
In science, we explored what the difference is between things which are living, dead or have never been alive. We also discussed why animals are suited to their habitats and spent some time making habitats for animals.
Year 2 - 26.09.25
Autumn Term 1, Week 3 - W/c 15.09.25
This week, we learnt all about Wales and the seas which surround the UK. We used our very own map of the UK on our playground to aid our learning. It only made sense that we read a story in Snowdon Room as it is named after Mount Snowdon! The children completed some brilliant independent work in their geography lessons.
Year 2 - 19.09.25
Autumn Term 1, Week 2 - W/c 08.09.25
The children have settled into Year 2 phenomenally! We began our Geography topic ‘Our United Kingdom’ this week and have been learning about each country, its features and its capital cities over the last week. The children have been great at finding the map of the UK in an Atlas and using the key to identify the capital cities of each country.
On our Wow! Day, we visited each of the countries. We built our own Titanic ships and danced in Northern Ireland, baked some tasty shortbread in Scotland, built castles and tried Welsh cake in Wales and had the most exquisite tea party in England.
